From detailed views of areas threatened by over-development, to personal attempts to alter our own mental and physical landscape, we use the element of chance to examine forces of motivation, control, and intent. Rather than work from a script or preconceived notion of a place, we often edit spontaneous footage, sound or stills gathered in an unfamiliar location with multi-layered audio that we create. Much like we would construct a painting, we build a fixed-frame image using color and form, adding elements of sound and time that we drastically stretch or compress. Our projected installations create a physical and psychological space through light and surround audio, and we’re always curious about how people interact and react to this environment within an environment (that may even deal with the “environment”). We want to make people pause for a contradictory experience: intimately inside one’s head yet a universal thought, requiring patience yet timeless, about that moment but lingering in an afterimage. ![]() |
